What are the rules to Flash?

How come people are allowed to sell Flash products, I have always wondered this? Because surly all the Flash files belong to Adobe, and yo can create them for personally use, and only Adobe can sell them, so how come anybody can sell the files.

The files created by people who use Adobe’s products are intellectual property owned by the creators. If Adobe could claim right on any file created with their suite of tools, it’d be a really scary world, but they’re not legally allowed to do so. It’d be like saying Sherwin-Williams owns the walls of your house because you used their paint.

If it worked that way, then all websites owe adobe money. Now, that wouldn’t be fair would it? It’s like i start a small movie company & i bought a dvd burning software to burn the movies i created, with the hopes of selling them. Do i owe the software comany money for every movie i sell??... I don’t think so.
If it worked that way then, you’ll have pay intel for everytime you compile your flash movie (uses processor), Pay Dell for the monitor everytime you’re able to view your flash file. Pay the hard disk company for storage of your files (which you make money from)... it goes on & forever mate.

Adobe owns the flash file type.. not the scripts that can be made with it… these are two different things. Tool and product.

That would be like saying all the harry potter books, merchandising and anything that has to do with the harry potter franchise is owned by whatever company makes the word proccessing app J.K. Rowling uses.

For example, if she used MS Office, then Microsoft owns the rights to Harry Potter.
