When is a thread a "New Thread"?

I have never been able to fathom the logic behind the “New Threads” panel.

At the time of writing there are threads in the “New Threads” panel in which the newest post is 8 hours old, yet there is at least one thread in the forums which was only started 5 hours ago and it does not appear in the “New Threads” panel.

Anyone care to explain the criteria used to decide which threads appear in “New Threads”?

Is it perhaps the case that not all forum sections are represented in “New Threads”?

well…actually it used to be a “New Threads” panel, but now it is “Latest Replied Threads” panel. See how the first thread has the latest reply in all the threads displayed in the list.

I’d noticed that. It should really be renamed it to “Recent Posts” or “Latest Posts”

Some forum sections like “Item Discussions” are not displayed on the front page or in new threads.

Thanks. That explains it. (The “New Threads” panel should still be renamed to reflect its actual content of most recent posts though)
