I think they are still working on the review process. A lot more items get submitted so until sifting through them all can be done in a reasonable time frame it will probably stay in beta 
If you are looking to be an author you can request to join the beta test as far as I’m aware.

The progress is coming along from what I can see. There have been some requests for photos of various types. My guess would be that the marketplace will launch when it has a good broad range of offerings. It would suck is all the pictures were of flowers and buildings.
