Why don’t outside links in the forums open as a new page / tab? It always navigates the user out of the marketplace. Any other forum I’ve been on automatically launches a new tab for the link. This way you don’t navigate away from the site or lose your place.

Im sure there is a way to force external links to open in new tab.
btw Im always using middle mouse button if I want to open link in new tab (its same as right click and open in new tab)
A lot of people would argue this is intrusive on the UI and the user should be the one who picks wether a new tab opens or not.

In China it is considered best practice to open in a new window or tab but in the “west” it is still deemed bad practice among the “elite” to open in a new tab or window and it is considered best to let the user do that by himself. Right Click and Open in new Tab.

I agree, except, when I’m viewing a forum thread or description I have an expectation for links to open in new tabs. It’s not a big deal though.

I’d love to quickly fix this, but unfortunately our current system makes it pretty tricky to only apply it to forum links. I’ve a bunch of code set aside that completely changes how we handle the formatting of forum posts that’d make this change trivial, but that’s held up by a bug in an external library. I’ll keep this thread in mind when I’m able to work on it again.
