PC vs MAC … LOLz

The only 2 things going for MAC are Aesthetics and the (unix) OS That everyone loves. (including me) I will agree that Mac OS is far more superior than any Windows OS. To say one machine is better than the other is just plain silly. If Adobe ported their software to linux/unix I feel the shift would be back to PC.

Hardware wise they are the same. The good ol days of specific CPU differences are gone. It’s all Intel now. So if your comparing price… PC wins. I can build a much more powerful Windows machine for a fraction of what I can get a loaded MAC for. From a personal business standpoint. PC wins. If something goes down, I can replace it within the hour. For a MAC it’s a bit tougher, and may take a bit longer, considering I have to take it in and have it looked at to not void my warranty.

I’ve worked on both platforms, using Adobe products and have come to this conclusion: Essentially they are the same… Some stuff works better on MAC OS # and some other stuff works better on Windows. I can say that if you don’t want to deal with researching, building, and configuring a workstation, then buy a MAC . If you buy a HP or any pre-built machine then your going to end up bitching. Hardware compatibility is essential to having a solid running PC.

All in all, it’s personal preference, and what ever you feel works for you, But based on cost PC wins hands down.

I heard rumors that apple will be discontinuing the G5 towers next yr. (iMacs only?!) I think it will be a divided road in the future. Apple is going to dominate the mobile/laptop market and PC will win the workstation/power user market.

Another point is that if you are a gamer, PC absolutely rules, hands down.

This should probably be closed down as it’s turned into a “PC vs Mac” thread.

Tigerlabs, you can run Windows on a Mac, so no. Plus, Gran Turismo isn’t available for Windows, so no.

I own both and actually the only difference I see is that Apple products seem designed for douche bags and arrogant asses.
:) 9 seconds here ! PC LOVER ! :) Emanuele, you’re my favourite short sentences creator. :)

+1 lol

As far as speed is concerned, Photoshop opens in about 3 seconds for me and I think I spent about $900 total for my PC.

From my side its about cold calculation. When I was looking for new notebook to buy, I made a big research ( base on cold logical decisions ) and the best machine to buy was macbook pro. It costs about 3k$, and there was lot of notebooks with same hardware at 1.5 – 2k$. But, I had some experiences with osx and I was pretty sure that this os can boost my productivity up about 20%. So I decided to pay extra 1k$ only for this feature :) and all I can say: it was worth it :)). And big plus is that you have really nice notebook :)

I have also iPhone 4, which costs about 800$, but you get working phone for this price. Not some useless android shit :)

I’m still curious as to this ‘APPARENT’ boost in productivity everyone who owns a mac swears by.

Would love to see some hard evidence of this with various rebuttals of why a windows environment would not yield the same productivity rates…

Really, I’m not being facetious, I’m honestly curious…

Please Dont say that. Im now Online on a android phone wich have bettter hardware then any iPhone. It Communicates with my pc and my ps3. I can even display Videos and pictures to Costumers on any tv with just scanning a qr Code. I can zoom in, switch just anything through my phone as a remote. Im pretty sure that this is Sony exclusive, so Dont talk this way.

iamthwee: its simple. Os X has expose and spaces, and this is killer feature for me :) And, few weeks ago I had 100 days without restart. You just open notebook and you can develop. I dont have time to mess around with all the windows drivers, restarts, updates, crashes and other problems, all I need is machine, which works. And thats mac :)

GraficAndMedia: Actually I have a life and I dont have time to waste by playing with some degen mobile options, installing cores, trying best builds, finding compatible applications, connecting with my computer and other. All I need is working phone which can be used to internet browsing. So I bought iPhone.

guys, I can totally understand your point of view, I was same person as you are. But one day, you will realize, that our time is limited. There are tons of things I wanna do, but day is still 24 hours long. So I payed extra 2k$ and bough the only one working solution at the market and I can focus to more important things :)
