2009 RSS News Ticker v.2

The feed URL is:

feed://shop.ebay.com/RoadShields/_i.html?rt=nc&_rss=1&_rssstore=1

It’s not XML . Anything I can do to get it working?

I am not happy with the support I have received (not received) for this product.

They do not read mails carefully and when they send explanations, it is not thorough and no details. Very unprofessional.

I wanted to open a simple popup window from the ticker. When clicking on an item inside the ticker, I wanted a new window to open, with pre-determined dimensions.

That is all I wanted.

They claim that the product is fully customizable from the xml, yet I cannot open a simple popup from the ticker. It´s a complete new window or nothing. They do not want to help, but want to get paid additionally just to explain to me how to open a simple popup from this “fully customizable” item.

This is the transcript of the last mail I have received from FlashReseller:

The product is fully customizable from XML settings. All the features of the RSS News Ticker v.2 can be changed from settings.xml. Fully customizable doesn’t mean that it covers any function or option a designer /developer might need for a particular website.

We give you the sample/example as curtoasy. If you don’t have the skills to code the sample and make it work for your system, you can ask for a customization quote and we can do it for you.

I repeat, I only wanted to open a simple popup, instead of the completely new tab/window upon clicking on an item inside the ticker.

I guess my last question/chance to FlashReseller’s so called support is then:

I believe this is fair question. It is nothing special I ask for.

By the way, let me know how much would the customization cost people like me? How much would you charge for support we should be getting for free?

I figured this out myself.

For everyone that wants to open a popup window, instead of the new tab/window, this is what you do.

STEP 1 . inside the head section of your main html document put this:

You control the width and height of this AUTOMATICALLY CENTERED popup through the first two vars, that is: var width and var height.

step 2: inside the download.fla, go to line 338 or where it says:

// click picture movie clip

Remove the function you find there and put this instead:

That’s that.

This is NOT customizable through settings.xml and if I was not familiar with Actionsript I would be lost, at the mercy of a seller that wanted to charge me extra for this simple piece of code, that should definitely be covered by the “fully customizable” part. It obviously is not and you must pay extra if you are not an AS expert.

Hi I booght the ticker I cant make to show the data.. when I change to remote mode as you mentioned..

Im tryng to set this :

useRemoteFeed=’yes’ localFeedUrl=’news.xml’ remoteFeedUrl=’www.eluniversal.com.mx/rss/mundo.xml’

The ticker remains in black,, what could be wrong ? Sorry Im a begginer .

Hi, I like yout ticker. How to try it first? Could you send me a trial by e-mail? Having some problems with other ticker I bought at another site – FlashXML (because it doesn’t understand majority of feeds) I would like to try your ticker first to convince myself if it is going to understand some feeds which I would like to display on my webpage.
