Ace of Tiles | Tiled Background
This is a tiled background with more options than most tiled backgrounds and that uses up much less resources. Not only can it tile, but in the xml you can specify normal (normal tiling background), top, bottom, left, or right (one row of tiles along the side that you choose). Also, normally tiled backgrounds either come with a radial gradient overlayed, or don’t. This one gives you the option in the xml. Some tiled backgrounds appear instantly when the tile is loaded, some fade in smoothly, again, this one you can choose in the xml. The tiling will also read it’s x and y and fill from there to the full stage from there only, so it’s easy to implement even if you don’t want it going behind your top banner or left nav, or just put it at 0,0 to fill the full flash space.
Having multiple in your project is also easily done, because not only is there an easy drag and drop method of use, but new ones can be instantiated in script and told to use different xml files, so you can have multiple ones working together. Also, for those that want to go the extra step when implementing this in their site, the background dispatches an Event.COMPLETE event once the xml and tile is loaded and ready and showing. So you can integrate this from a level as easy and dragging and dropping a movieclip on stage, or as complex as instantiating with script and timing the showing of your content with it. It will cater to any spectrum of flash knowledge within that range.
It also is capable of resetting what tile is being used at runtime! This feature is used in the preview so that you can see it in action. So you can have different pages in your site have different tiled backgrounds easily!
I’ve created special algorithms so that when the browser is resized and the background has to be updated it reads the situation and ONLY updates the parts that need to be updated to fill the screen rather than re laying out the whole darn thing. Because of this, while if you grab the corner of the browser in most tiled backgrounds and resize it around a bunch you’ll notice a lot of choppiness, but in this one it’s smooth as can be. So to clarify that’s a lot more options and uses with less tax on resources… that’s very nice.
Did I mention it comes with a bunch of pre-made tiles. And that every one of them is 100% vector in the form of a Fireworks PNG ?
