I am having problems integrating the ap. into an exsisting flash file. I copied the Showcase_Rotator folder by opening Flash -> Showcase_BannerRotator_CS3.fla; copied from the library the entire folder. When I paste the folder into my existing flash AS3 project, the guidlines for the “banner”, “description”, and so on apperas on my first slide/frame. I am told to also copy the mc_ShowcaseRotator to the stage but what does that mean?

Can someone please help me get this to work?

Never mind, got it to work. It looks so good. Thank you very much for this excellent animation! However, there’s one small detail. I’m from Sweden and I use letters such as å, ä, ö. In the data.xml it says:

<?xml version=”1.0” encoding=”utf-8” ?>

The UTF -8 encoding should be sufficient for every single character but it just wont work. Where I typ the letter å, I get a black space.

Any ideas?

I’ve tried with HTML -> ä = ä and å = å but that doesn’t work either…

How do you get / or – to show in the links?

The links? I asume you mean the text in the rotator? The text is loacated in the xml-file that feeds the swf-file with information such as where the pictures are located, that the text should say and so on..

Hayleme: my email is acana79@hotmail.com and I would really appreciate if you could help me with the issue of special characters. I do have all of Adobe’s products, but can’t get it to work. In AS2 you just wrote System.useCodepage = true; and things worked. In AS3 I have no clue..

One quick question though: Do you know how I can display an external webpage within my flash site? I want one of my pages in my swf-file to show the content of an external webpage. I can only get it to work by linking to it with a button and then opening the webpage in an external window. Not what I want…

I have never worked with flash before, but I am good with dreamweaver and fireworks. I have installed Flash CS4 on my computer. Do you think you can give me a step by step direction so I can use your Banner Rotator on my website. I found the XML file. Once I edit that, how do I get the banner on my website. What are the folders/files I need to copy to my hosting server. Thanks.

I purchase your showcasebanner rotator and was also able to integrate it within my website. I have a question in case I have multiple show cases to be shown on the same or different pages using just one swf file. i.e. simple_container.swf.

You have mentioned in the ShowcaseRotator.as that the flashParams.xmlPath is initialized at load time and if not found it defaults to c/xml/data. This can be one way of achieving multiple show cases but flashParams.xmlPath is not working at all. I tried to keep xmlPath as flash variable but it wasn’t picked up.

Can you tell me what and where to troubleshoot regarding multiple show cases? If there is any alternate way to realize multiple showcases, do let me know.

I don’t know how to embed them. I don’t have a Flash IDE . Is there a way to fix it.

Hi, This is good stuff…. However i noticed that all the images are been loaded at the time of starting the animation… I wonder if i could just start the animation with the 1st image and then load the others on the back ground… while the visitor is still looking at the fist image… please let me know if this can be done
