It works great, geoken! Thanks a lot!

One more question. I am trying to resize the stage to 800 to 400 px. Which parameters do i have to change?

The thumbs, which are shown when i click on a category are much too deep. Where can i adjust the _y start position?

To resize the stage first resize the way you would usually resize (the size button at the bottom). Then change the size of the background, the name of the clip is ‘bground’ (the pic viewer bases it’s positioning off bground). Also change the size of picviewer, that’s the clip that displays the pics.

When you open the FLA there is an MC in the middle of the stage called varea. Just drag that MC to wherever you want the pics to be shown.

I am new to this site, could you tell me if the download provides all the source needed as if i had written this myself?

I would like to get a copy of this to learn from to re-write something similar as I am coming from AS2 to AS3 and struggling to get my head round it.

Thanks for any help.

tony: All source files are included and I comment them out pretty well. With that said this is a pretty complicated file so your ability to learn from it is going to depend on your past AS experience. A lot of the logic in this gallery is used for sorting the xml file and finding new categories (while ignoring existing categories) and adding them to various arrays. This involves multiple nested for loops and a lot of array manipulation. If your confortable with those things then you could probably learn a lot, if you’re looking for something simpler for the use of AS2 > AS3 migration this might be a bit much.

You would have to modify the code a bit.

You could re-run the function that set’s up the main menu, but you’d have to add some extra code to hide the UI elements.

Hi,

When i add multiple categories, they seem to show up side by side and fall off the screen. This is not ideal for unlimited categories. as only the first 4 can be seen and clicked.

Shouldn’t the categories display in a grid with next page and previous page buttons to support unlimited categories?

Can you show how to amend the code to allow this to happen?

Cheers

Send me an email through my profile and I’ll send you the fixed file. The items will display in a grid and when they move to the side there will be buttons to scroll them.

I thought I updated the newest files but there must have been an error if you still have the old one. I’ll look into that, but in the mean time get in touch with me and I’ll forward you the updated version.
