Hey Nellie Great File Congratulations amazing file and support.

By the way I had found it a little problem and the problem is that when you scroll down the extended info and then you go back to slect any other short news menu, it will show the extended info in the same area that you left the past one on. It is a little confusing the way I’m trying to explain but for example i go to short menu A and then I scroll down all the extended and I leave go to short menu B, I will start seing the news from the botton part because that is how a left the extended info of short menu A

vred, I think that issue is fixed in the Compact News Viewer v2.0. I’ll take a look when I get a chance and find you the code to fix that. Regarding loading a swf from the news detail menu, do you mean when you click on the new item instead of showing the full item it loads a swf?

vred, for the scrolling issue, on line 11 you will find the

back.onRelease = function() {
...
}

Within this function on a new line add:

fullNewsItem.fullNews.scroll = 0;

That should fix the problem. Let me know how it goes.

Regarding loading a swf file, on line 143 of the actionscript you will find:
item_mc.onRelease = function() {...}

This is the function that is called when you click on the item, so you would need to add some script here to load the swf. I’m not sure exactly what you are trying to do, and it is too complicated to explain here. If you are interested I am available for freelance work, so if you email me with some more details I can give you a quote.

Yes you can put the swf in an iframe. I’m not sure what you mean by implanting your blog in the viewer. Your content for the viewer comes from an XML file which you can update manually.

Very nice. Congratulations. Just one question: how can I change the tiny times font into a bit bigger one?

Thanks in advance

andytom, if you open the flash file, you can open up the “newsItem” and “fullNewsItem” from the library, and change the font of the text boxes in both of those movieclips. It should actually already be set to arial, I’m not sure why it’s appearing as times to you.

Great Item, Very easy to adjust, though the idea of scalability within the xml is nice on your v2. My question is this… I have an xml populated flash menu calling this swf into a movie clip, the scroll function, highlighting, back button, swf, and jpgs appear. But no text. Can you offer any suggestions

Hi Nellie, Your file is fantastic – however I am in desperate need of altering it slightly. Is it possible to load a different URL when each item is clicked rather than going to the full news item? Your help would be much appreciated.
