“TODAY’S DATE IN HISTORY ”
This light, drag-and-drop, resizable ActionScript 3 / XML module randomly selects and displays text, images and/or SWF files based on today’s month and day. The image or .swf animation will always match the associated text.
Refresh the page to see different randomly selected data.
Simply drag and drop into any ActionScript 3.0 project.
The module can be used as a calendar displaying a daily memorable historic event, or as a display of a recipy of the day, tip of the day, random daily testimonials, random daily quotes, random daily tutorials, random daily snippets of code and so on.
You can even use the Dynamic Daily Random Data Display as a micro-template for a full-fledged website that randomly displays daily full-size .swf pages. (As long as your .swf pages are coded with ActionScript 3.0.)
All the data is controlled from XML .
A complete XML history timeline with four different random events for each date is included.
You can have unlimited number of daily items to display. There’s no limit to the length of text. You can display .jpg, .gif, .png or .swf files.
You can modify anything in the look of the module: size, font, colors and so on. Almost every line of code is commented, so you can use this file also as a simple, practical tutorial on loading data from XML with ActionScript 3.0 and on using dates and random numbers.
All source files and help files are included.
