Drag and Drop Into Existing or Future Projects Featured News Header offers the modularity of drag and dropping it into existing or future projects. Simply place the component on stage, give it a name, call a function called init() and viola. This serves well especially if you need to use it on a webpage or other Flash template.

Apply Rounded Edges to the Images Add a soft rounded edges to the images that are loaded within the news headlines. By adjusting a value, you can adjust the amount of a desired rounded edge for a more modern feel.

FAQs: How to Modify / Use Your File

How do I edit the Flash component? You can easily edit the content by updating the content.xml. The file, settings.xml, will provide easily modifiable settings that Featured News Header v1 has to offer.

Do the images need to remain the same size or can they be altered? No and yes! The images do not necessarily have to remain the same size. However, if you do have intentions on resizing the image, you can do so by resizing the graphic within the MovieClip, imageLoader. You would then need to reposition it accordingly.

Can I update the look and feel of the buttons? You are able to update the styling of the buttons by reskinning the MovieClip, arrowButton.

Can I easily change the number of news headlines show at once? By editing the visibleNewsItems value from within the file, settings.xml, you can then update the number of visible news headlines.

Can the Flash component easily be integrated into new and existing Flash projects? Yes, Featured News Header was developed using an object-orientated approach. It will work fin standalone or within an existing or future Flash project.

Can I increase/decrease the width/height of each news headline? By increasing the width/height of the MovieClip, newsModule, you can alter the size of the news headline. Since newsModule is the template design for all of the news headlines, altering it once will affect all news headlines.

How do I update the color of the text? You can update the text by editing the hex values of the bodyTextColor and headerTextColor, which is located in the settings.xml.

How do I adjust the speed of each transition? Featured News Header user gTweeny and the speed of the overall transition scroll can be modified by altering the value of transitionSpeed which is located in the settings.xml.
