I’m interested in a magnifyer which can load a single large image then zoom in and out to see detail etc. Can the side images be removed so that it displays just the main image with zoom +and -? Is it possible to have the image to be magnified in a single folder? Nice tool.

offcourse you can use single image without side thumbs, there is several samples in preview like: Sandwiches, Dog, Leaf and etc.. without detail thumb, therfore you should only feed the xml with your image path then MegaZoom works in noSideMenu mode automatic.
for more info check the sample feed in single mode, you should only remove all thumb nodes from xml:
