Flex Smart Scrolling Text

hit the update button a 2nd time and it stops scrolling (fixed to the left)

The attributes of this file are actually not supposed to be changed at run time. They are supposed to be set once when you add this component to your project. The problem is due to changing some attributes explicitly at run time. It can be fixed by changing the code so that the text is initialized and repositioned everytime the update option is clicked, but this will increase the amount and complexity of the code in the component. This WON ’T be a problem when you implement this component in your project.

When the Text width is adjusted (left to right / right to left), and then updated, it will cause the field to stop scrolling

..and sometimes, the field does not reappear!

As I mentioned earlier, the actual component you are going to be using doesn’t support changing the attributes at run time. You set the properties just once. The preview is to show you how the component can check whether scrolling is needed or not. I will upload a new preview to avoid futher confusion.

First of all, great component! Maybe a nice addition would be something like this:

The text starts like “This is a very loooo…” and starts to run on the mouseOver event. The … goes away and becomes the full text and starts to scroll from that position. On mouseOut, the text snaps back to the original position with the truncated string.

I’m modifying it right now, but not sure if I can do it myself.

Can this be changes to scroll from bottom to top instead of right to left?

Is there a way to have this Component Flex 4.5 compatible?
