FotoFeeder | Image & Photo Gallery AS3 XML

FotoFeeder is a fully customizable and easy-to-update ActionScript 3 and XML image gallery that can be used by virtually anyone. Photographers, designers, even family members can use FotoFeeder to display images and photos. The beauty of this image gallery is its simplicity, solid functionality, and its ability to be customized via an XML file.

FotoFeeder has now been updated! You can now use special characters in this file seeing as a few people requested it. Anyone who has previously purchased this file needs to download the file again (free of charge of course) as there are many changes to the XML , AS, and help documentation.

Slick, auto-hide navigation system

FotoFeeder features a slick top navigation system to organize images by categories. This special navigation system can be toggled on (auto hides navigation when not in use) or you can switch it off so that the navigation is always visible. You can change the number of categories to suit your needs. The navigation system also features an extremely useful thumbnail preview of each image. Rollover an image number, and the thumbnail will appear.

Multiple Modes

There are three ways to view images in FotoFeeder. Gallery View, for viewing normal / full size images. Slide View for a visual display of all thumbnails / images in a category. And a one-click Auto View to let your gallery automatically display all your images so you can sit back and enjoy the slideshow.

Color Customization

Background color and navigational elements can all easily be customized via the XML and/or the ActionScript.

Captioning

If a caption is added/needed, then a “Caption” button appears above each image. When this is clicked, the user is taken to the Caption view mode, where the viewer can read about the image. But that’s not all! FotoFeeder automatically calculates the length of a caption and presents it in the best possible way. Meaning, if the caption is a line or two, the caption background will resize automatically. If the caption contains multiple paragraphs, then not only will the background resize, but FotoFeeder will also add a scrollbar so the user can scroll through and read the caption. This is perfect for story telling or adding lengthy commentary on a particular image or photo.

Subtle Sound Effects

I have created/included subtle sound effects for certain button rollovers that accentuate the image gallery, but FotoFeeder has been set up so that you can easily remove these sound effects or simply add your own.

Special Feature: Missing Images

I have added a special feature to prevent broken images and broken galleries from spoiling the gallery. If a user gets an image filename wrong or forgets to upload an image, the gallery automatically finds the problem and displays a subtle but useful message on screen that says, “Unable To Locate Image”. And yes, you can even customize this message if you prefer. No more broken galleries due to missing images or mismatching filenames!
