I just purchased this file and i am trying to load a swf my means of a the UILoader. How do i use this preloader if my Loader’s instance name is myLoader????

radiii – You need to add a Progress EventListener to your actionscript like so:

myLoader.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);

function progressHandler(eventrogressEvent):void { var uiLdr:UILoader = event.currentTarget as UILoader; loadBar.growLoadBar(Math.round(uiLdr.percentLoaded)); }

The smiley is supposed to be: “colon” and “P”

Hey… just bought your file… looks good but I’m a bit confused about your instructions. The first two steps especially:

1. Open the “Glowing PreLoader” folder

I don’t know what “folder” you mean… The only kind of folder I can think of is the ones you can have in the library, but you don’t have any there…

2. Drag the “Glowing PreLoader” movie clip onto the stage

I don’t see an MC with this name. I see: “LoadBar”; “loadGlow”; “loadGlowBG”; “loadNumber”; “loadNumberGlow”. What am I missing?

Lastly, where do I put the “gotoAndPlay” so that it will forward to the next scene when it’s loaded?

typo – Sorry for the confusion. I definitely need to update the help file!

1. Disgard #1 & #2 that you mentioned.

2. If you are using the .fla provided, the preloader is already on the stage, but if you are using your own file you’ll need to copy the LoadBar movie clip and paste it into your file.

3. Open the Actions Layer in the LoadBar movie clip and copy and paste over all of the code with the code located here:

4. On line 40, if you have a different frame you want your swf to go to, this is where you change it. Currently it sets the parent to go to frame 2.

5. Make sure the PreLoader extends into frame to if you want the last squishing effect to take place. Otherwise dont worry about it.

Hi m8, this is very good work, but I still can do your preloader to play. I put to my swf the LoadBar mc and I have extended to frame 2 as well for the effect to take place. But I’m still confused of as code i need to write to my frame 1 of my swf.

ggeorgaras – Put this code into frame 1 (delete what is already there), and see if you can get it to work.

Frame 1 ActionScript

Hi. I have been going back and forth with this preloader for a couple of hours now, and am at a complete loss as to what to do.

I have it on the first frame, with my other content on the 2nd frame. I have followed all the comments and solutions in this thread. Currently, all I get when I export the swf is a black bar with a “100%” on the left hand side. It appears for a millisecond before the rest of my content loads.

Could you please help me?

I Liked it at first.. thought it was a really clean design. Works fine when I publish in Flash (cs4) but hangs up on the server. here’s a screen shot of what it looked like when it would freeze up.

@1upGraphics – Do you have a link to the actual live application that I can check out? By, ‘working fine’ when you publish do you mean that when you preview it, the loader grows and animates like my preview above? Or that you just don’t get any errors?

I took it off of my server cus it was pointless to have the page hanging up at 0% loaded. when I said it “worked fine” I meant that when I would ctrl + enter in flash then go to “view” and “simulated download” at a low speed it would go from 0% to 100% just as the preview above and fade out to scene 2.

when I would put it on the server it was hit or miss. more often then not it would it would show the 100% text at the 0% position like in that screen shot.

i applied the preloader to a customers Flash myspace page and the same thing happened.

out of 52 people who have purchased you have never had this problem?  either way you guys have really awesome designs. keep up the good work.
