Nice work
Nice work
Pretty nice menu, I like that it can be set to multiple colors that easily
Thanks for the comments!
I’ve had to create menus like this in the past. I finally decided to make one that was reusable and easy to implement.
Hi -
Just purchased this and have been plugging away – I think it’s great, and I believe it will do everything that I need it to. Just a couple of quick questions:
It was necessary for me to resize the main Nav bar, so I need to adjust the SubMenu accordingly. There are several SubMenu items I need to include. I have not yet figured out how to move the SubMenu Text items down, and get the background to adjust accordingly.
Also, is it possible for the Logo to be in front of the Main Nav bar? ie the Nav Bar’s links start far to the right of the logo, but the nav bar is behind it. See example of what I’m trying to mimick:
http://www.turnaroundtour.com/index.html (note that the “Login” popup menu isn’t showing up…)
This is my first foray into this kind of Flash menu, and any help getting me back on track would be helpful.
Hi derekstellar,
Thank you for supporting my files!
Sub menus: The menu system doesn’t have the functionality to stack up menus in a row-type fashion. I didn’t quite think of that since I didn’t think anyone would want more sub menus.
I will look into adding this functionality. I’m thinking of adding a sort limit in the XML file. For example, say you have 9 sub menus. You could throw a value of 3 to this new option and it will display all 9 sub menus, stacked in 3 rows:

Would this be something you’re looking for?
Logo I noticed this. I’ll make an option where you can send your custom logo to the front or back, that way you can have both options!
Thank you for the suggestions, I think both are great to add in for version 1.1 of this file.

Again, thanks for the suggestions and supporting my files.
Thanks for getting back with me so quickly! Actually I didn’t want to do the sub menu in stacked rows – I can make them all fit in the one row as per your originals. See the work in progress here:

I am trying to scoot the submenu text down to go under the main nav and over the color bar where it belongs – as you mentioned in the instructions file, resizing the main nav would put them outta whack, but I’m pretty sure there has to be a way to put them where they belong. When the text is back in place where it should be, it will automatically resize the color bar underneath, correct?
Thanks again. For now, if I can just get the submenu to work like I want it to, I will just stick the logos on either side of the nav.
Thanks again!
derekstellar,
I see what you mean now. I’ll take a look at the menu and see about adding more functionality so resizing the main nav bar doesn’t end up resulting in a problem. The text should place itself where the bar is, I’ll definitely take a look and get this ironed out for you.
The sub menu bar is sized by how many items are in the particular sub menu. You can fine tune the space between each item with the spacing attribute on each sub menu item in the XML . I added this mainly for flexibility so you can throw your sub menus in with any type of alignment.
I did upload a new build (it’s not live yet, being reviewed) that adds in the Logo “onTop” or “onBottom” functionality as well as stacking sub menus. It didn’t take long to implement. I will take a look at the height resizing menu and get right back to you!
Thanks!
You’re the man! I figured out the issue I had w/ my original Fireworks table (well, sorta…it’s fixed, but not sure how), so when you figure out the sub menu deal, I’ll pitch it to the boss man – some of these pages may end up being discontinued (no news since ‘07!)
Thanks for the help!
derekstellar,
I found a good solution where I added an X and Y offset for each sub-menu, that way you can easily fine tune where you want to sub-menu to be placed, regardless of the height of the menu bar.
If you want the updated version now, go ahead and contact me through my profile page and I’ll send you the update. The previous update is still going through the queue.
I just want to say again that you are the man! You really went above and beyond on tweaking this to suit what any user would want to do with this – if anyone is on the fence about purchasing – go ahead and do it. Money well spent!
