lastFm aware mp3 player

Hello,

cool mp3Player connected to lastFm.

  • UPDATE to v1.1
  • added functionality: Now Playing Indicator

to test the full functionality* please visit:

*read additional note to note B.

just put your mp3’s to the tracks folder and hear the music. this version of the player fetches the image corresponding to the playing tune’s artist page on lastfm and displays the photograph from that adress. you can add your own images to be displayed too from the simplest xml ever. the player can be fully colorised and is all vectors so can be any size. it is draggable if set in the xml if you need to add this on a flash website. everythng exepth the colorising methods are in one movieClip so it is drag and drop. the font used is a customized pixel font downloaded from www.miniml.com and edited to support some extra latin characters. Contact me from my den if you have font issues.

the xml structure: every node is like this:

    <track artist="Thirteenth" imgPath="images/thirteenth.png">Thirteenth - BusinessCardOfThePenguin.mp3</track>

the artist attribute can be set, if left empty the player seeks through the songs id3 tag and uses that information.

same behaviour for the imgPath attribute. if this is set the player loads the image on the set path, if not it connects to lastfm data services and grabs an image to display it.

if the lastfm connection is going to be used, both of the id3 tags (to be on the safe side, actually id3v2 is enough) for the mp3 must be set correctly. this can be done in winamp5 with the autotag feature. this can also be done following the instructions at www.musicbrainz.org.

the autoPlay feature is controlled via the root node of the xml. something like this:
    <root autoPlay="1">
1 is autoPlay, 0 is not.

if you need the tracklist and infoClip not visible at start, u should add this line to the actions layer in the mp3Player movieClip:

    alphaToggle(tracklist);//for the tracklist
    alphaToggle(infoClip);//for the infoClip

testing on local machines the lastfm connection can be interrupted because of the flash player security settings. online, there should be no problem.

the actionScript 2.0 is again well commented and ready to rock.

have fun go mad

note A: this player has it’s own commercial API license signed by Last.fm at 09/1/2008.

if you are going to use the connection for another program you should get your own API key.

this player uses a tinting function written by robert penner (www.robertpenner.com) at june/2001.

note B: none of the songs used in the preview file are included to this player. all the songs are copyrighted (except for the first song which i did:P). They are authorized from their creators to be on display here on flashden.net only.

additional note to note B: flashden rejected this file the first time i uploaded even though the copyright issues were solved with the authors. so this preview file uses static images of myself and my music only. if you want to see the original file doing it’s thing please visit:
