Last.fm Favourite Album

From 7th April 2011 this file is no longer supported

Last.fm Favourite Album

This file allows you to display your favourite albums from Last.fm. It allows viewers to see what the album name is, the artist/group and the amount of times you have played that album.

This file is AS3 , there is no AS2 version at the moment.

You will need PHP version 5.1.0 or greater, and read/write permissions to work this file. You will need a Last.fm account and a Last.fm API account. A walk through on how to get an API account is in included, and its very easy. iTunes affiliate support is built in, so you can offer a link to the iTunes album page (US only). This is handled through LinkShare.com which controls the iTunes affiliate network in the US.

For you to use iTunes and Last.fm data together legally you will need to sign up for a commercial API account from Last.fm, the walk through doesnt explain this process.

The preview shows 4 lines of album covers, the first loads the last 7 days, the next 3 months, then next 6 months and the last is overall, which is the same as 12 months for me (been with Last.fm for under a year).

The last line shows what happens when you want to display more albums that can fit in the width you state in the xml file. It also shows what it looks like if you set iTunes affiliate to false.

If you enable iTunes support and display over 15/20 albums, each time the php file updates, it most likely will take awhile, as the LinkShare.com webservice isnt the fastest thing, so you may want to update only a couple of times per hour, or reduce the amount of albums you want to display.
