Hi, I’ve just bought this item and I would like to know if there is a version with no need to press < > to change the thumbs… i.e., they move to right/left when the mouse is over the thumbs .. thanks

The scrollbar is located in portfolioViewer movieclip and you can change its position to anywhere on the stage.

Very nice flash file for displaying our company’s portfolio. Before I buy this file, I do have some questions, I hope you can answer.

1) I notice the demo has a dark background, can I easily change this to any color I want if I modify the .fla file? I want to have everything on a white background, is this possible?

2) The little pink boxes that display the number of pictures for any given project, can that be modified so users can click on that to navigate the images within any given project?

3) Can I increase/decrease the height and width of the area that displays the main images?

Do you want more Thumbs and to cover the whole length of the flash file (meaning under the text description) If so heres how to do it. This is assuming you are NOT changing the size of thumbs or main images.

Open portfolioViewer.xml

Change this value to visibleThumbs=”12” (this will fit 12 thumbs all along the bottom)

Open portfolioViewer.fla, double click the main MC “portfolioViewer” to display all layers in the timeline. Open the action thats on the first top layer called actions.

Look for these lines and make the following changes (this is assuming you do not have wordwrap enabled, it may be on different lines then I have specified below)

Line 25 prevBtnDock._y = 380;

Line 26 prevBtnDock._x = 20;

(this will place the left arrow closer to the left side of the whole movie, if you don’t change this, you won’t be able to see the prev button because the thumbs will be covering it)

Line 290 var waveDistance:Number = 100;

Line 294 var menuCenterX:Number = -130;

( the wavedistance setting will stop the thumbs beside each arrow from overlapping making it hard to click next or prev to show more thumbs. The menuCenterX setting to to center all thumbnails to the middle)

I hope this helps. Great file and gave it a 5/5 rating. For the future it would of been nice to have these settings a little more user friendly and perhaps located in the XML file thus eliminating the need to edit the FLA file. Finally to be able to just roll the mouse over the arrows for next and previous thumbs like most thumbnail menus work today would be nice. And I’m willing to pay for that addition. But I still rated it 5/5 because its 15 bucks and does alot then others. Thank you

When I click on nextBtnDock (or prevBtnDock), I display (and hide) one thumb at a time. Is it possible, when we choose visibleThumbs=”5”, for example, to display (and hide) 5 thumbs at a time ?

Or to scroll on rollover the thumbs without using the arrows ?

I am extremely new to Flash & need to modify the background (need white… with a little gray gradient on the bottom)

Is there any way you can walk me through this?

Do I make an image in photoshop & then import into the FLA …. or can I make the gradient directly in the FLA .

I am very please with this postfoilio. I have 45 images and the only big complaint I get is the waiting period to load the thumbs. Can the author PM me with an option to dynamically load the thumbs as they are loading. After you get past 25 items, it has a long waiting period before anything shows.

Besides that. This is a grade A component.

Also I hope next version will allow categories to select.

Any plans for an AS3 version??

ditto mustang_lex – we gotta find a better way to load the thumbs than to sit watching a count. PERFECT other than that.
