changing scene should make the object to be destroyed (garbage collected) and then created again when you return to that scene (so the “reload”, and book restarting, is unavoidable, since changing scene or frame will make the object to not exist anymore).
The slowdown is not normal anyway, and maybe it is due to event listeners which remains active every time.
I will make some tests now, modifying the “component demo” included in the package (adding a second scene and a button to switch to it). In the meanwhile please send me an email so I can get back to you ASAP and send you some files if necessary.

you cannot control the audio embedded in a page from the Power Book application, since from the main application point of view your external pages are just swf files that are loaded and showed within a book page, but it cannot know if and how an audio has been embedded within it.
The main application can just stop the main audio when entering a particular page, and it will automatically recognize the audio from a video (included within a video module), but that’s all at the moment.

I would like to include a playlist feature in the future (so you can load multiple audio files in your Power Book instance instead of just one, so to be able to set an audio from this playlist to start when opening a particular page), but at the moment I cannot really tell when it will be ready, or if it will be included in v.1.4.

I am sorry but I don’t know much about installing swftools as an online service. It should be possible, since I have seen online services which does that (and they are using swftools).
Maybe it would be best for you to contact the swftools author directly, to have an hint on how to do that.
