So…. what would be the best way to turn this into, say, a search box for a site? Particularly I’m looking to create a “submit” button that submits the text typed into the input box to a php file or whatever.

I was looking briefly at the code and had a bit of trouble figuring out what the name of the inputbox.text was so that I could grab what was typed in there. Any idea of what I should be grabbing?

Hi,

I wouldn’t know how to give this the ability to search (as I don’t know how to create a searchbox), but to get the text entered in the input box you should grab:

textbox.input.text (where textbox is the instance name of the suggestion_box MC)

Great Work! – Is there a way to convert the AS into a class?

I tried doing it myself but if the Predictive Text Field is on Frame 1 and I press a button after I go to Frame 2.

I get an TypeError: Error # 1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

The error is pointing at if(! input.hitTestPoint(stage.mouseX, stage.mouseY) & if(clear..hitTestPoint(stage.mouseX, stage.mouseY,true).
