Been trying all day to get the management tool to work but nothing.

Im on a mac my browser is Firefox and i host with Godaddy and Im certain its running PHP5 . am i missing a step?

Danny’s issue has been resolved. He was receiving the error due to the fact that the paths to the assets were incorrect. A new FAQ has been created to help others resolve this issue (if it arises).

This script is great. I tried another CMS and you couldnt mod the sizes without knowing how to develop completely in flash, with this it is simple, just edit the swf dimensions from the flv, and then make sure your embed code/php config file match the size, and embed using the js, and there it is. No embedding complications on Social Media! Thanks.

The only thing I wish is there could be a back/forward button. Otherwise perfect in every way.

hi Veiko, at first glance i think your issue is the fact that one of the links in your xml file is filled with special characters.

How can I change the position of the “navigation menu”? I want it to be more at the bottom on my file format “615px / 350px”. With the original position, the menu is right on the middle. Please, help me!

hello and thanks for purchase,

if you wish to change the position of the group of buttons open ‘smart-banner.fla’, view actions panel, and you’ll see a series of variables you can set. change ‘BottomMargin’ from 20 to 0. that will place the button group at the very bottom of the stage.

a function that would be great if you could ad it is the ability to re order the ads, and when you delete an ad, delete the corresponding image/swf file. I noticed a glitch when i had to re-add a graphic I had an error on, and i had to log on the the ftp and delete the file, then upload it again…that applies if the name of the file is the same, it has no over-right ability.

yes, the ability to reorder the banners would be great. that will be the primary improvement on the next version. i think i’ll build it so the user can drag and drop banner boxes in the desired order.

regarding the override. in my tests the uploaded file did override existing files. it may be a server configuration. i’ll look into this further.

I’m having a weird problem. I edited the php5 file so the banner will be 200×200 pixels and then I created 3 200×200 images to use as banners. The images are appearing really small on the rotator even though the rotator itself is 200×200 still. Any idea what could be the problem?

thanks for the purchase.

it sounds like you did not resize smart banner itself. open ‘smart-banner.fla’ resize the canvas to 200×200, export and replace ‘smart-banner.swf’. that should do it.

This is such a great tool – I’m having a little trouble with it though.

I set everything up according to your documentation and the banner shows up in the management tool

but when I click on the link I just get a black web page and when I try to embedd the .swf file into an html page I also get a black box where the .swf should be.

if you need the embed code I’m using let me know – although it was just whatever dreamweaver outputted – not much of a coder I’m afraid.

hi. thanks for the purchase.

on the management page, the link to the .swf takes you directly to smart-banner.swf . the .swf by itself doesn’t know where the xml file is so it doesn’t know where any banner are to rotate them.

when embedding the smart-banner.swf into a .html page be sure to use ‘sample.html’ as an example. you need to send a flashvar to smart banner so it knows where the source xml file is.

hi, smartbanner assets exist on 1 layer so fading 1 banner into the next isn’t an option without custom coding.

hi ‘xeryus’, thanks for your interest in smart banner. hmmm… the site is a cms. that leaves some questions, but generally you set the management tool path relative to the domains root so if smart-banner.swf is at www.yourdomain.com/swf/smart-banner.swf you enter the path swf/smart-banner.swf. as far as the xml file, it’s easiest to use full paths to your banners. i hope this helps.

PLEASE tell me why this banner rotator keeps repeating the flash before going into the next banner. It is very glitchy. It loads the flash for a second, then repeats the load and continues playing to end, then goes to next banner. Also, it locks up at times. I have cleared my cache.

I am using AS2 in the banners and some have pause scripts at the end of the timeline. Have any ideas?

Also, I could not get the managment tool to work but I could care less right now. I just want it to load smoothly.

the error you are receiving is not doubt from an incorrect path set in the management-tool.php5 file. the paths need to be relative to the domains root so if your xml file was located at www.yourdomain.com/xml/smart-banner.xml the correct path would be xml/smart-banner.xml.
