Hi there ranfirefly I would also like to find out the way to stop the repeat of the swf after it plays once. Ive made a banner which says a sentence but i want it to pause when the rolling is finished and the whole sentence is visible. Thanks

Also i would love to stop 1 sentence and have another keep rolling and changing.

Btw im using the XML version though i also have this simple flash one

Great file, just what I need. However, I have a question…

I have increased the Letter_MC objects to 23 and the parameter NumOfLetters to 23 and have a 23 character string to output.

The tickers flick through on all 23 tiles however, my string stops at 18 chars and doesnt populate the other 5 objects.

I’ve obviously missed something? What though?

ignore my last comment, I’m being an idiot and not giving the 5 new objects unique id’s!

Can the font be changed? as well as color? I’ll be potentially using this animation in a PowerPoint/Adobe Presenter where I can import Flash files, but I can only have one flash file per slide but I would need to have three seperate lines (trying to animate a product logo) so hopefully I can make this work…feedback?

How would I add a delay to certain some of the letters so they don’t all reach their destination ‘at the same time’ .. if that makes sense?

As they flick through A..B..C..D..E etc they’re all at the same speed – I’d like to offset some of them so it looks more random?

Any ideas?

Is there an AS3 version for this?

Simply moving letters around inside the “Letter_mc” movieclip will achieve nothing. Each letter will still continue to rotate using the same pattern. While pretty effective and cool, it still lacks any randomness.

For those that are interested in making this animation slightly more random from the start, here is how I have achieved a quick and dirty method for doing so.

Create a switch/case statement on the first frame of “Letter_mc” movieclip. Inside that statement, test for the current letter and simply advance the play-head to a character that is before or after the current letter.

And there you have it! You should now have something slightly more random as each “letter” is starting at a different letter from the start. Hope that helps.

• If you want a long cycle, use the next character after current letter.
• If you want a short cycle, use a character just a before the current letter.
• Double letters will rotate in the same pattern always.
