Cool! But if you put more than one sign as cursor only one gets removed at the end of the animation :). You might want to check that out!

Hi Geert9,

Spotted a bug while running after compiling using Flash CS4 / Flash Player 10.

In your Typewriter.as file, you do not give temp_text an initial value which causes a run-time error as it cannot access the substr method of a null string – the first time through, temp_text is null.

Assigning a blank value to temp_text in the class declaration fixes the problem.

private var temp_text:String = "";

Other than that, so far, so good!

Regards Brian.

No worries – I have found that CS4 is much stricter than CS3 . Things you could get away with before seem not to work in CS4 . I have had to go back and tidy up a few things myself.

Good product though – comments are excellent and the class is very easy to use!

It would be really cool if the cursor could blink at the end for a specified duration.

I guess one could hack into that, but if built in, I have a feeling it might draw more interest.

I am bookmarking this!

Hello – I tried changing font color, but it stops the text animation:

This htmlText does not work:

txtAnimator1 = new Typewriter(“It all started with the font GREEKS about ”, ” ”, 45, string1_txt);

sorry my FONT tags were removed, but I used standard htmlText syntax for changing font color.

What happens, is instead of the font color changing for 1 word, the entire string changes color, when only 1 word is supposed to. So I don’t know if your class can truly handle htmlText… sorry!
