Hi, could you send me the preview file to make it work as a transition tool and not a preloader? I read in a previous post that you were willing to send it.. Thanks and nice work.
Files seem to work fine in CS3 . Not working at all in CS4 . Won’t play – just get a white blank nothing.
Any ideas why? My project is entirely in CS4 , I’d like to keep things simple if possible.
Thanks!
Why are there two version of each file – one that says CS3 in the name, and one that doesn’t. There’s nothing in your help file about why this is. Is the one that doesn’t say CS3 a CS4 file, or something previous to CS3 ?
I was only able to get the CS3 versions to run in CS3 just as they are. Once I changed the image files to my files, it no longer worked. I tried Simulate Download to make sure it wasn’t just going very fast. Just a white screen.
Also, your help file says to open your files and replace the photos in there, but I have a whole flash movie already for which I need a preloader. You don’t specify what I’m supposed to import into my project. Am I supposed to drag the preloader_mc onto my timeline? Am I supposed to copy all the frames from your project into mine? You don’t specify. You just say “Open the file you’ve selected in the previous step and select the preloader_mc from the first frame or asset library.” then you proceed to explain how to change that movie.
Am I being clear about my question?
Thank you.
OK, no worries. A little trial and error and I think I’ve got it working in CS3 . I’ll see then if I can reopen it in CS4 .
Thanks. it looks really nice.
im getting the same white screen when testing it…. any ideas to make it work oncs4?
ello,
how do you check with bandwidth profiler ? download constraints? what do you mean?
i followed the instructions but I get a blink of the image and goes back to plain white.
Very good and original preloader work.
Thanks for FREE file !!!
This seriously sweet.Quick question…What am I dragging and dropping? The preloader_mc? Also, what code am I pasting on frame 1? The layer 4 stop code or the preloader_mc action code? thank you
This file is genius, although I having issues with it in CS5 ( the white screen that adammontanaro described in CS4 ). Any chance you have any thoughts for me? The white screen and the following error are what I get when I try to publish:
“Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the “Use Device Fonts” setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts.”
Even though I have reworked the font profile with my own fonts. My publish settings are with Flash 10 and Action Script 3.0.
Thanks!
it doesnt seem to work for me. when i test the fla files without even modifying anything, they just dont work… only one that does is the preview fla. bummer.
How can i get the AS2 version ??
Hi Marc – A little problem. I have created 2 images – one black and white for 0% and a color one for 100% loaded. They are both really, really small. 3k each. However, when I brought everything in and placed it on frame one of my movie, and replaced the photo1 and photo2, and run it in the simulator or online, the preloader only begins to show when the bar is already at 90%. So the end result is 10 seconds of looking at a blank screen, then, bam, the preloader shows up already almost finished, and then the site loads.
I thought at first my preload images were too big, so they were taking too long to load themselves, but they’re really, really small, file-size-wise.
Is there some way to tell the preloader not to start it’s preloading animation until photo1 and photo2 are loaded, at least?
THank you! adam
SOLVED : Hello, all, I solved this with a little help from the mysterious and powerful senocular. But I will explain how here, just in case anyone encounters this problem. It is NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE PRELOADER . It’s simply that if you have to check your Linkage on the objects in your library. Anything you’ve decided to “Export for Actionscript”, if you also have “Export in Frame 1” selected, will automatically be loaded in frame 1 – even BEFORE your preloader. So, the solution is simple: If you don’t need it in frame 1, don’t export it in frame 1. Uncheck that box, and you will see your preloader loads as expected. Thanks Marc for a great little tool!
Is there a way to use this as an alternative to a JavaScript loader… kinda like your redirect splash element?
