Thimblerig (also known as three shells and a pea)

Here’s my latest creation: Thimblerig (otherwise known as Shell Game, Three shells and a pea or The old army game).

The objective is simple: find the ball. The cups are shuffled randomly (really!) and at speeds different for each difficulty level. After being shuffled thoroughly, one has to click the cup where the ball is hidden. Do this correctly and one wins.

This file is extremely flexible – practically everything is alterable really easily. The entire game is located inside a movieclip without a single call to _root, so it’s really easy to drag and drop.

You can change the following settings really easily:

• Speed for each difficulty level individually
• Amount of moves
• Animation values (radius of the semicircle)
• Design of the thimbles (FlashDen logo is just a placeholder) and the ball
• Time each animation takes (e.g lifting the cup -> 1.5sec)

Also note:

• Easy to drag and drop as the game is inside a movieclip
• Small size, only 15.6kb
• Easy to understand actionscript, excessively commented
• Easy to understand actionscript tweens, good for educational purposes
