Hi, thanks for your purchase, and sorry for the delay of my answer.

I’m sorry but for an AS2 version you must use the previous version of the Water Bubbles, as written in the item description (you can see it here: http://activeden.net/item/water-bubbles-real-time-as-animation/21336).

If you like the improved bubbles graphic of V2 you can easily import their movieclip in V1 library. This is quick to do, and if you have problems doing it I can do this for you for free (just send me an email).
The only thing I can’t do is to adapt the new script (of V2) to AS2 .
Anyway… Water Bubbles V1 is not so different fro V2: it does not have some options for the bubbles movement, the bubbles graphic is a bit different, but the final effect is quite similar.

Hello—

Apologies, I sent you an email also.

I am having trouble with this SWF when laying over as a background object.

If you look at: http://www.shrimpo.com/personal/ui_swf_bak.png

You will see a block of colour which I cannot remove, even if I set it to transparent. The layer is “back”. I have set it to transparent and it made no difference. I also set VMODE /WMODE to Transparent and experimented with Opaque.

If you see in the above URL , the bubbles do work perfectly outside of the range, I just need to remove that strange block of colour and cannot seem to do so. Any ideas?

Thanks, Chris

hi Chris, sent you an email now!

That darker area seems to be the demo swf background layer.
So, you can get rid of it just by recompiling the swf from the fla, removing the blue gradient background layer.

Hiya

I was just wondering if it would be possible to use this as a full screen background and then layer html/css over the top, is this difficult to do?

Hi davepike7,

it’s rather easy… you just need to embed the bubbles swf in your html page, and place it inside a “div” that stands below the other page elements (and don’t forget to set the flashvar wmode=transparent to have the bubbles with a transparent background)

This is an older version of the Water Bubbles, but the idea and technique is the same: http://www.ideacalypso.com/

In this case they are aligned on the left, but you can spread them across the whole page… it only depends on the swf size inside the html page and on the bubbles options.

If you need more help please write me an email.

Hi This looks exactly what I am looking for. I however get the following error in my as3 fla. Any ideas. I am sure its me doing something stupid.

Thanks

Source is bubblesGenerator Line 66

bubbles.push(new Bubble(this,MOVEMENT_MODE,INTERACTIVE,BLEND_MODE,MAX_DISTANCE_FROM_GENERATOR,SPREAD,SPEED_MAX,HORIZONTAL_FLOW,OSCILLATION_MAX_SPEED,OSCILLATION_AMOUNT,SCALE_MIN,SCALE_MAX,ALPHA_MIN,ALPHA_MAX,FADE_TOP_MARGIN,FADE_BOTTOM_MARGIN,FOCUS_EFFECT));

Hi Winetec, thanks for your purchase!

Maybe I should have explained that better in the help, sorry.
The “Bubble.as” class (contained in the “classes” folder) is needed if you want to recompile the bubbles swf, or include it in another Flash project.
So, just place that “Bubble.as” file in your Flash project folder and everything should be fine (the error means that the compiler can’t find that Bubble class and it’s just assuming it to be a normal movieclip, which it isn’t, so the error).

If you still have problems please let me know (you can also write me an email).

ps: I will soon update the bubbles adding also a swc component to the package, so that you can just drag and drop that in your project.

I was able to install the script easily and everything at first glance works perfectly. But upon viewing the final swf in various browsers I was noticing a huge lag in browser responsiveness. I mean HUGE . I had no idea what in my swf could be causing this so I began eliminating various possibilities. Lo and behold it was your bubble class. I have no idea why or if it’s even resolvable. I hope so. It’s exactly what I need and seems otherwise to work like a gem. I was using 4 instances.

I’m under the gun here time-wise so I hope there’s an easy answer.

Thanks!

Alright, guess I won’t be getting any satisfaction from the developer who I also emailed via his website.

Too bad, nice script otherwise. Seems like it should be an easy fix since no one else has reported this issue.

Probably won’t be able to get a refund either.

Lesson learned.

Note to self: learn how to write Action Script so I don’t get boned anymore.

Hi atomiccherry, thanks for your purchase.

I understand that you may have a tight deadline, and of course you have the right to receive an aswer by developers here on ActiveDen when you buy something and experience problems, but please have a little more patience since many, like me, are just single developers and not a team of workers… and I have to divide myself between the assistance to other products here, other custom works and deadlines I may have, etc..
So 3-4 days it’s quite a common time span to wait (I will always do my best to answer you quickly but sometimes, like in your case, the answer is not so straightforward and some tests are necessary).

I am currently away from my common working place so I cannot fully assist you, but I will be back on Wednesday 15th. In the meanwhile please send me more details so I can help you better.

By “your swf” do you mean that you have included my script in another Flash project? If so, can you please send me this other project of yours, so I can test it? (the fla and the classes would be perfect so I can check the code if any).
And if you have something online that I can see that could help as well.

Flash is for sure not a so efficient player when it has to move many graphical objects on the screen, but if you experience “huge” delays then something may have gone wrong.
I have embedded this script in many websites, usually within a background layer, and I have never experienced a big performance loss. Maybe it could depend on the other Flash scripts that may be running in the same page (if any), or on some settings you may have changed.. I cannot help you more without being able to see your page/application, sorry.

I appreciate you getting back to me. Sorry for being impatient, just under the gun with my client.

I decided to go back to basics and created bubbles the inefficient way on the timeline. Not as nice as yours but it did the trick.

I actually did think of having a single instance and using various masks to reveal the bubbles only where needed. I can’t say whether that would work or not in terms of browser performance due to going the other timeline route. Perhaps when I have more time I’ll be able to test that method out.

You really do have a nice script here. I would definitely buy more of your scripts as needed.

Thanks again for getting back to me. Keep up the great work.
