XML News Feed and Browser AS3

XML driven, News Feed and Browser, AS3

Designed to be added to an existing site without taking up much screen real estate. The idea behind the News Feed and Browser is that it remains visible and accessible at all times for exploring news items which catch the eye.

This component is also suitable for text ads, discrete affiliate links and general site announcements.

FEATURES :

News Feed:

• The News Feed will automatically resize to fill the width of the browser window.
• Headlines begin to scroll once XML content has loaded.
• Jpeg tooltip preview image displayed on headline rollover.
• News Feed pauses on rollover. Resumes on rollout.
• Feed can also be paused/resumed using Play/Pause toggle button.
• Clicking headline launches the Browser.
• Headline length, formatting and speed are set in the XML file. (both normal and rollover)
• Headlines can act as external hyperlinks when browser content is omitted.
• Add or Subtract headlines and thumbnails via XML .

News Item Browser:

• Browser launched by clicking a Headline. Browser minimises again on rollout.
• Add or Subtract news items, images via XML .
• Previous/Next arrows for reviewing news articles from within Browser.
• Items not containing content are automatically skipped.
• Change all Browser content in XML file.
• External link button shown below item description if link data has been entered in XML file.
• All Browser text is formatted with HTML .

General:

• News Feed and Browser, content, layout and positioning are completely fluid.
• The color scheme & title can easily be modified in the flash file to suit your project.
• A CSS stylesheet has been included for ease of customisation of all text.
• Contained in one Movie Clip, in one frame, which can be easily dragged & dropped into other flash projects.
• The code is written in Actionscript 3 and is extensively commented.
