Hi tobran,

This file uses the Tweener Tween library, which you can download for free from here

(I also have this link in the help files)

You have to place the “com” folder in your root actionscript class folder. Or you can make your own and add a new class path in Flash preferences. (probably better to do this)

See this video tutorial on GoToAndLearn if you are in need of some help. This video tutorial covers this issue. Then things should work fine.

Hope this helps. Donagh

Hiya, This is a great product, well done. I’m in the process of trying to re-position the news feeder at the top of the page (slides down). Also, can the XML doc be split into two separate ones; settings and news xml. I want to do this so the news itself can be based on a dynamic or live rss/xml file, and therefore act independently of the settings variables stored in the xml.

Thanks heaps for any help, Mark

Hey mcgeady,

Thanks for your positive comments.

Repositioning the feed to top of screen could be tricky, if you are having trouble send me an email through my Flash Den profile page and I’ll see if I can help.

You can split the XML file like you described. Try this as a general guide:

  • Just duplicate the XML URLrquest and loader at the beginning of the code.
  • Edit the duplicate’s names and inset your new settings XML file path.
  • Look for LOAD XML FUNCTION further down and add in your new loader here.
  • Create new gotList function (new name also) for settings xml file.
  • Remove XML list named settingsList from original gotList function.
  • Place into new gotList function and populate accodringly.
  • If done correctly the remainder of the code relying on the settings will still work.

This list may not be everything, but its a good start. If you have any problems contact me through my Flash Den profile.

Good luck Donagh.

Can the feed and news items be resized to as small as 300 px wide?

Hi PeterG

I’ve been away for the last few days, so apologies for the late response.

Yes its possible. The item senses the size of the stage and resizes itself accordingly. For example, launch the preview above and resize your browser to aprox 300px, then you will see that things have resized. If your div is 300px wide, then this will be the “stage”.

If the width of the text in the article browser is too wide at 300px, the width and alignment can be easily changed in the code. I can help you locating these items to change.

Hope this helps,

Donagh
