XML slideshow / image rotator with thumbs V2

hello, i just purchased this item because of its apparent simplicity and functionality. I need to be able to load it INTO a movieclip on my main swf when i get to a certain frame. I am using the usual _root.myloader_mc.loadMovie(“yourslideshow.swf”) method but with no success. Your swf is NOT visible, although apparently it loads because my loader movieclip disappears. If i open the slideshow swf directly everything works as expected. plase help me.

I dont know where to find your email… problem is simple: - i copied all your source files to my source directory. - your swf is named banner.swf (no changes made to the original fla) - if i open your swf from my directory it loads fine (all images are pulled from a dir, read from the path modification of the gallery.xml) - i have a movie clip on my stage called loader_clip - at a certain frame on my timeline i have the following action: _root.loader_clip.loadMovie(“banner.swf”); - at runtime, when i get to that frame, loader_clip disappears and banner.swf is NOT visible - if i replace the previous action with _root.loadMovie(“banner.swf”) the swf loads correctly, but of course replaces all contents of my published file - i dont need to have any flash embedded into html… i just need to publish a swf, or an exe (your banner rotator needs to load in a section of an interactive project i am designing) - i can reproduce this mysterious behaviour in a simple fla file with just that line of code in one frame and just that loader_clip…

what is going on?

You never attached a HTML example with this..

I cannot get it to work just by loading “site.com/go.swf” where go is the flash file. XML and images are unchanged.

I uploaded all to my server and its not working.. bad rating

Thanks for the reply. I know how to insert Flash into HTML . The problem is that nothing is loading. My XML file and all files are in the right structure and right place. The document just stays blank. Nothing loads.

I mailed you with my problem over a week ago. Still you have not replied. Absolute paths do not work, and as I said I need this to work locally since it will be part of a dvd presentation. Please read my problem again and help me. It is a simple problem and easy to reproduce. If I cannot get it to work this file is useless for me.

aha… can you believe I did not notice your file was just for AS3 just up until now? That is probably my problem. YOu cannot load an AS3 flash file into an AS2 project, right? Also, I never saw your reply because it turned out to be in my gmail’s spam folder…

Anyway, my code is plain simple: I use the loadMovie command to load your slideshow clip INTO a movieclip on my timeline, but that does not work -probably just because it is written in Actionscript 3.

my line of code would be:

_root.loaderclip_mc.loadMovie(“yourslideshow.swf”)

No workarounds for this problem right? I just have to stick with an AS3 file that will not work on my project …ever. Not your fault…

Thanks so much for the file. I purchased it a couple of months ago and used it with no problems. However it seems that since then something has changed (perhaps the browsers) and now the swf takes very long to load all of a sudden (even with only 4 images of only about 50KB each) and doesn’t seem to load properly on Apple Mac at all? Your advice on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions as to incorporating a preloader for this file?

It would be cool to update this file with a var to set the window target as well for each image.

Does this file support special characters?

When I resize the swf to fit into the area I want it to the scroll won’t work for the thumbnails, any thoughts?

It seems that swf movies is playing in the background all the time when they are not in focus… is it possible to only play the movie in focus and the others is stopped? And when another thumbnail is clicked the actual swf starts playing?
